One partner allows themself to have this dependency because they know they can; safely, without any fear of getting hurt. That kind of dependency completes the other in a way nothing else can. We humans were meant to be paired with a partner, to reach our full potential, but even more importantly, to lift our partner to theirs. I don't want to depend on a partner for things I don't need to be dependent for. I want my partner to have the same. I want to be my own individual. I want my partner to be the same. But for some things, I'm not complete without my partner. I want to provide my partner the same completeness.
